New House Rule

New House Rule

Homework? Dangerous?

David finished his homework and got up from the kitchen table.

David tripped over his own two feet. Derrrr...

David fell and jammed a pencil into his eye.

David was not running. David was not goofing off. David was not Evil Knievil.

David was simply doing his homework, fell down, and jammed a pencil into his eye.

David landed hard enough on the tile floor that the pencil actually broke. The pencil cracked.

David had a good hold of the pencil and also jammed his fist into his eye socket.

David cried. David has been known to scream like a girl scout in heat when a leaf bug flies into his hair. That was nothing compared to this.

David lost his breath and gasped,"Mommy, I can't breath."

David had tears - David was crying blood. His tears were bloody.

Can you even imagine?

OK.

Deep breath.

Yes, Mom freaked. But no, Mom did not overly freak.

David saw his doctor immediately. Then David saw a specialist immediately after that - well, not quite immediately after that - it took a hair-raising 75 mph drive down Beach Blvd during rush hour...

Yes, David is fine.

Thankfully, it was the eraser end of the pencil. Thank the Lord it was not the sharp side of the pencil. I can't bear to even think otherwise.

David did tear his eye, closest to the nose. There was also trauma to the muscle that moves the eye.... He had double vision. By damaging the muscle, it was pulling his eye outward, causing double vision....

The eye has a remarkable way of healing itself in layers. The human body is an amazing thing. David's tear healed within a week. The trauma to the muscle began to improve, and his vision improved. That is a very good sign. His double vision is gone.

His shiner is also gone. His blood-red eyeball is gone...his Whiney-Spongebob-Loving, Short- Attention-Spanned-Youthful-Character---remains intact... (if that's what you call it)

David is fine. One more doctor appointment is scheduled for next month.

Can I repeat this again and again? David is fine. (We are SO saving this pencil for Show-n-Tell!)

Thank the Lord it was not worse. WOW....

New House Rule:

"Please Put The Pencil Down, AND THEN, Get Up From The Table..."

Welcome 2010 (?)

I got a call from my youngest sister. The Holly Hobbie one. I swear Holly Hobbie looks misspelt.

She said I haven't written anything recently, and thought it was about time I said something.

OK then, let's recap the first 2 weeks of my 2010 and I'll tell you something:

a. January 2. We put Ruby down.

b. January 14. David finishes his homework and trips and falls and jams a pencil into his eye.

c. January 15. I lose my job.

Happy 2010?

Please tell me things come in threes?

Just so you know:

a. Yes, oh Ruby - I miss you, Girl!

b. David is doing fine, and there does not appear to be any permanent damage. Thankfully, it was the eraser side, and what was torn and inflamed, looks to have healed themselves. Eyeballs are not only pretty to gaze into, but they are amazing and can heal themselves really fast.

c. Dadman is doing fine. Still looking, still hoping, still smiling. Scared but confident. Learning so much.

We are open to everything. We are networking with everyone. I am so willing to relocate. I am also SO willing to re-invent myself. We are good people. I am jobless in a very scary economy with 2 kids.

Please! Parents! Stop your child from waking up at 40 years old and finding themselves as a Signmaker!

I don't feel prepared for this - I don't remember taking this class in high school...
